Description of the location

Costa Blanca is the Mediterranean coast of the province of Alicante, located in the southeast of Spain. A picturesque coastline with numerous beaches and bays and breathtaking mountain views stretches for 250 km.
The Costa Blanca region has a state-of-the-art healthcare infrastructure that is internationally recognized due to its extensive experience in serving international patients and advanced treatment methods.
The most emblematic and visited cities of the Costa Blanca are Benidorm, Calpe, Denia and Moraira.
The resort town of Calpe is located in the northern part of the Costa Blanca. The population is about 30 thousand inhabitants, however, during the holiday season this figure increases significantly, by about 5-6 times. Calpe area - 23.5 m2, the boundaries of the city itself are outlined by the surrounding mountainous terrain.
The history of this small town began with the fishing village of the "Badia de Calp" bay - and to this day, fishing boats deliver fresh catch daily to the fish exchange at the Rock of Ifach.
The Rock of Ifach, often compared to the Rock of Gibraltar, was declared a natural heritage site in 1987, and today has become a real paradise for the many birds and representatives of the flora and fauna living here, which can be observed in a wide variety. By the way, you can make a full-fledged ascent to the mountain for those who like to engage in active sports and just lead a healthy lifestyle. From this little trip you will get an unforgettable experience. On the way to the top you will find winding paths, stone roads and even a large tunnel, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. At the end of the journey, a real reward has been prepared for you: breathtaking views of the sea and the nearby lake.
Another wonderful place to visit is the Las Salinas Salt Lake in the Middle Ages fed Calpe by mining salt, and now it attracts tourists with the opportunity to see pink flamingos, storks, royal herons and ducks. On the salt flats of Calpe grow rare plants that are characteristic only for salty soils.
The old town of Calpe (Casco Antiguo en Calpe) is the pearl of Calpe, the historical center and a small quarter located in the very center of Calpe, near the bus station, central tourist routes and beaches. The old town in Calpe is small and easy to get around on foot, so it's more of an old quarter or an old part of Calpe than an old town. This place is perhaps the most visited in the city. In the old quarter, you can fully experience the Spanish style and immerse yourself in the past. Here, narrow streets are intertwined with low traditional Spanish houses, many of which are painted in bright colors.
On the territory of the old city, the remains of the fortress wall (protective fortifications of the city) from the time of Moorish rule have been preserved. And the unique cathedral (old church) "La Iglesia Antigua", made in the style of Moorish Gothic. That is why the Old Town of Calpe is also called the "Moorish Quarter".
The defensive tower of Torreón de la Peça, next to which you can see two of the four remaining cannons.
The parish church "Parroquia Virgen De Las Nieves", located on Placa de la Villa, where services, weddings and other ceremonies are held, is another significant place.
Residents of the city prepare for the holidays in advance and very carefully. The most popular are:
- Beer Festival and Moorish Festival
- Andalusian Fair
- The German Carnival and the feast of the Virgin Carmen (the patroness of sailors, as the sea plays a big role in the life of local residents, thanks to the actively developing fishing industry, which brings in most of the income).
Calpe is a city that has been attracting attention for the purchase of real estate from residents of countries such as England, Sweden, Germany and Scandinavia for many years. Here is a wonderful climate, which in winter, for example, is not in these countries. In summer, the temperature reaches (+30)°C, the water warms up to (+25-26)°C (July-August), due to the proximity of the sea, there is no strong stuffiness, but in September-October the weather becomes much more pleasant - (+25 -27)°C, the water is still warm - (+25)°C and you can still swim.
