Description of the location
Pilar de la Horadada is a municipality in the province of Alicante, Valencian Community. It is located in the very south of the province, in the Vega Baja del Segura region, adjacent to the Murcia region and is the southernmost municipality of Valencia, located 3 kilometers from the Costa Blanca.
According to the 2019 census, 21,905 people live here, of which 38% are foreigners, mainly Scandinavians, British and Germans. During the summer season, the number of residents increases significantly.
Pilar de la Horadada is a calm corner on the Mediterranean coast with beautiful nature, beautiful beaches and a mild climate, with cool sea breezes in summer, due to which there is no sweltering heat in summer and protection of the surrounding mountains from northern winds in winter, so winters are mild here.
The city is surrounded by orchards, citrus groves and farm pastures, a pine-covered mountain range, fine sand beaches and small coves.
Historically, Pilar de la Horadada was a collection of villages with no specific center. Now the city is divided into three zones: a coastal zone (Torre de la Horadada), a zone away from the sea and a zone at the foot of the Sierra Escalona mountain range, which is more suitable for permanent residence, with excellent ecology and great popularity among both Europeans and our compatriots.
The rivers “Seco” and “Nacimiento”, originating at the foot of the Sierra Escalona mountain range, are about 15 kilometers long.
They flow through the entire territory of the municipality and into the Mediterranean Sea.
The city's coastline stretches for more than four kilometers. Wide white sand beaches contrast with the blue sea and small rocky cliffs that run into the sea. These beaches are ideal for families with children, as the entrance to the water is flat and gentle.
Clean, clear water allows you to dive at El Mojon Beach.
And the beach at Mil Palmeras is ideal for sailing enthusiasts, as well as walking along the beautiful promenade.
There is also a marina for sailing enthusiasts.
In 2019, the beaches "Puerto", "El Conde", "Jesuitas", "Playa de Rocamar", "Mil Palmeras" received the highest award for purity and quality - the "blue" flag.
The city has two hiking trails along the “Seco” River, as well as 40 kilometers of bike paths throughout the municipality, including along a beautiful, wide promenade.
From the city center to the beach, you can walk, ride a bike or roller-skate. And this is three kilometers of path, passing along the bed of a drained river.
Not far from Pilar de la Horadada, fifteen minutes drive, there are golf courses such as: “Golf Villamartin”, “Campoamor Golf Resort”, “Las Ramblas Golf”, “Las Colinas Golf & Country Club”, “Gourmet Golf SL”, “Lo Romero Golf”, “Roda Golf Club House”.
These fields are not only for professionals, anyone can learn the game. Experienced trainers will help you with this.
Despite the fact that the municipality is relatively young, for more than twenty years of activity as an independent municipality, projects have been implemented to provide the city with the necessary services.
There are many shops, restaurants, bars, hospitals, cinemas, and a street market every Friday.
You can swim in the pool with a sliding ceiling, play football or basketball, play handball or tennis, and you can also go in for martial arts and dancing.
For children, Pilar de la Horadada has schools that teach in English and Spanish. There is a music school, an art school and a riding school.
Every Sunday in the city there is a magnificent open-air market - "Mercadillo del Toro". Here you can buy freshly picked vegetables and fruits, choose clothes or a beautiful bouquet, as well as listen to live music and much more.
The city is gaining more and more popularity every year, both among tourists and among buyers of real estate, including foreign ones.
Many new residential complexes are currently under construction. Many apartments are sold out even at the stage of construction of the foundation pit.
In most cases, apartments and houses in Pilar de la Horadada are new primary housing, in the construction of which quality materials, modern technology and design are used.
